Employee benefits

We offer a range of benefits to help support the wellbeing and development of our employees at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Annual leave and TOIL

We give all of our employees 30 days paid holiday per year (pro rata for part-time employees) to help encourage a healthy work-life balance.

We also offer up to five days TOIL per year to employees who help support the charity at fundraising events outside working hours. Taking part in some of our many events is a great way for everyone to engage with our fundraising activity and fantastic supporters.

Long-term support

We look after our employees with a variety of benefits:

  • generous contributory pension scheme that all employees are automatically enrolled on (unless they opt-out)
  • death in service pay of three times your annual salary
  • annual salary review
  • interest free 10 per cent discounted season ticket loan up to the value of £5,000
  • cycle to work scheme with discounted bike purchase

Family friendly policies

We have a range of family friendly policies to support our employees with a healthy work-life balance, including:

  • enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • the right to apply for flexible working (our standard working hours are 37.5 per week)
  • salary sacrifice childcare vouchers
  • supportive sickness policy

Health and social wellbeing

We value the health and wellbeing of our employees and offer a variety of benefits to support this, including discounted gym membership and a dedicated sports and social committee.

We also offer all of our employees the opportunity to get involved a wide range of fundraising events. This could mean cheering on some of our fantastic runners in a race, helping with bucket collection at one of our special events or even signing up to complete one of our challenge events to raise money.

Learning and development

We support the learning and career development needs of all of our employees through an annual plan. Throughout the year, we run internal sessions (both technical and non-technical) to enhance knowledge and skills.

We also recognise where external training is needed and help to provide support with this, including professional career development support through financial assistance, study leave and time off for exams.

Access to a range of NHS discounts

All charity employees are issued with an NHS badge, which entitles you to a range of discounts with local businesses and retailers.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity actively encourages all staff to get involved at the hospital through a number of volunteering programmes and this makes for a very inspirational and satisfying work place to be a part of.
