Volunteer community ambassadors

We are looking for volunteers to join our team of over 120 community ambassadors. We need people who are friends and supporters of Great Ormond Street Hospital, and who can be the face of the hospital and charity in their communities.

Our community ambassadors are a network of volunteers, based across the South East of England – representing the charity in their local area and raising awareness of work of the hospital.

Please note this role does not involve any contact with our patients or volunteering in the hospital itself. Please contact the hospital’s Volunteering team if you are seeking a role within the hospital.

Ways to get involved

As an ambassador you can get involved by:

  • Inspiring your family, friends, colleagues and online networks to support the charity.

  • Attending cheque presentations and thanking our supporters face-to-face.

  • Giving short talks on the charity and work of the hospital to a variety of community groups (experience of public speaking is preferred).

  • Have good connections and the self-confidence to reach out and arrange your own talks and provide us with feedback.

  • Getting people involved in our fundraising appeals and campaigns like Bake it Better and Bad Hair Day.

  • Promoting your contacts to take part in events like our annual RBC Race for the Kids 5k family fun run.

  • Volunteering at events and assisting at cheering stations at events like the Virgin Money London Marathon (please note that if you just want to volunteer at our cheering stations we do not need you to register as an ambassador, please register as a cheering station volunteer).

  • Placing, emptying and banking coin collection tins in cafes, restaurants, shops and your community.
