Muhammed

Muhammed was born with an extra thumb on his right hand and a nodule that was the beginning of an additional finger. Both were removed under general anaesthetic at GOSH. One-year-old Muhammed spent two nights at the hospital with his mother, Saida, who stayed with him in his room on Tiger ward.

"It helped so much that I was here for the whole time – it kept him calm," says Saida.

When a child is admitted to GOSH, at least one of his or her parents is guaranteed a bed in or near the hospital. More than 1,000 parents use the accommodation facilities every week.
