For the first time ever, Morgan Stanley won the Enduro Challenge, one of the most arduous triathlon relay races in the world.
Raising over £40,000 for the charity, Greg Jarvis, executive director at Morgan Stanley and captain of the winning team, tells us more:
"This is a unique and gruelling relay event that involves running from Marble Arch to Dover, swimming the English Channel to Calais (no wetsuits allowed!!), before cycling to the L'Arc de Triomphe in the centre of Paris. It involved months of early morning training as well as weekend trips to recce the run route, plus bracing sessions in Dover harbour as preparation for the night swim!
"Of course we wanted to win the Enduro Challenge and with that become the Arch to Arc relay record holders, but we also had a greater motivation, to raise awareness and a large sum of money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
"The entire team visited the hospital back in July and we saw for ourselves the bravery of the children and their families as well as the dedication, professionalism and passion of all the staff there. Seeing what a difference the funds will make made us determined to raise as much as possible.
"The Arch to Arc event is an extreme challenge, but there are many other events that the Firm and individuals undertake throughout the year to raise funds. There are so many novel and fun ways for everyone to get involved and every penny counts. So whilst Enduro ’08 is now over the fundraising effort most definitely is not."
