Text Santa: live tomorrow night!
Tomorrow night Text Santa is on ITV1 at 7.30pm. ITV’s Christmas charity extravaganza will have its amazing finale – an evening of entertainment, filled with ITV’s biggest stars, music and fun, all in aid of 9 charities.
The two-part festive fundraising initiative aims to raise money for those most vulnerable during the festive period.
Paddy McGuinness will be attempting to appear in as many pantomimes as possible across Britain, the cast of ITV2's The Only Way Is Essex will be performing their single Last Christmas and Ant & Dec will finally take part in a Bushtucker trial.
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity has been honoured to be one of the chosen charities, with money raised going towards accommodation for parents over Christmas at the hospital.
Why it all matters
Robyn at the Friends Christmas party
Robyn is a typical eight-year-old girl. She loves Strictly Come Dancing, sparkly dresses and gymnastics. But, unlike her school friends, she is about to undergo her fourth limb-lengthening operation at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Robyn, was born with a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia, which means her limbs are out of proportion with the rest of her body.
Her mum Jane, 46, says her daughter doesn’t make a fuss, and stays amazingly positive despite the difficult procedure which sees her confined to a leg frame or wheelchair for months at a time.
Jane said: “She has been in and out of hospital all her life. All in all, she spends six, seven, even eight months in frames after an op then she has a further six weeks in plaster. But she is a little trouper. She’s a very, very determined young lady.”
“She must have been to Great Ormond Street Hospital about 30 times. I suppose it’s a bit like a second home to us but the doctors and nurses there are absolutely wonderful. Luckily they have accommodation there for parents and I never have to leave her side.”
“I can’t say enough how fantastic the hospital is. It’s really changed Robyn’s life. Not only has she received fantastic care, she’s also grown into a confident young girl.”
Robyn has just begun gymnastics for people with disabilities and has already had some amazing success, winning eight gold medals and three silver medals at competitions. She was also recently crowned the Welsh champion for her routine with a ribbon.
