Octav Botnar Wing

The Octav Botnar Wing was completed in 2006 at a cost of
£52 million.

Designed for excellence, the state-of-the-art Octav Botnar Wing, named after the founder of the Camelia Botnar Foundation, provides a unique, uplifting environment and includes the following centres:

The Somers Medical Daycare Centre (Kingfisher Ward).

Wherever possible, we are trying to reduce the number of children who need to stay overnight or longer in the hospital.

Not only does this help to make the visit to the hospital better for both the children and their families, it means that we can free up beds to allow us to treat more children who need to be admitted to a ward.

Generously supported by The J N Somers Charitable Trust, the centre is geared to the needs of children whose treatment can be managed within a day or a series of day visits.

An Orthopaedic ward

An Orthopaedic ward for the treatment of children with conditions such as spina bifida, congenital limb problems and osteogenesis imperfecta.

The Harris International Patient Centre

The Harris International Patient Centre. This centre caters for children from overseas who are unable to receive expert treatment in their own countries. The centre was supported by the Rt Hon. The Lord Harris of Peckham and Lady Harris DBE, and the Martin and Zoe Harris Charitable Trust.

The Octav Botnar Wing

The Octav Botnar Wing has now been operational for over a year and has made a big difference to the staff who used to work in the old buildings as well as the patients and families, who now enjoy much better conditions.
