We want all our patients and their families to have the same kind of facilities that we have built in the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building.
Phase 2 of our redevelopment programme will see the creation of two new clinical buildings which together will form the Mittal Children's Medical Centre, named in recognition of the generous support of Aditya and Megha Mittal and family.
Vitally important to the hospital's future, the centre will enable us to pioneer new patient treatments, undertake groundbreaking clinical research, and prepare the next generation of leaders in child health.
On completion of Phase 2, the hospital will be able to carry out up to 20 per cent more operations, treatments and day case appointments every year.
Phase 2 will take place in two stages:
-
Phase 2A the construction of a new clinical building, The Morgan Stanley Clinical Building, which was officially opened in June 2012.
-
Phase 2B the redevelopment and refurbishment of the current Cardiac Wing, yet to be named. This will also partly house our recently completed new Imaging Suite.
These new buildings will be the hub of the redeveloped site, linking the hospital with UCL Institute of Child Health, the Camelia Botnar Laboratories and the Variety Club Building.
