The redevelopment programme has set a target of 120% carbon reduction and 60% renewable contribution by 2016 from its Phase 2 developments.
These targets reflect reducing carbon dioxide emissions - and increasing % renewables - to minimum practical limits for individual high-technology hospital buildings, using bio-fuels, to combat global warming.
-
120% carbon reduction means that the two building centre will provide all its own energy carbon free, and also supply some green energy to other parts of the site.
-
These figures are based on the agreed plan to use biofuels but the system is also able to use gas, if this is necessary.
