How much will it cost?
The China Trek 2009 will be an experience of a lifetime for you, but this is no holiday. To reserve your place on the trek we ask you to pay a non-refundable deposit of £200. You will then need to raise or pay £2,750 to reach your minimum sponsorship. 75% of this (£2,063) must be received by the Charity eight weeks prior to departure. If this amount is not paid in time you will unfortunately lose your place and your £200 non-refundable deposit will go, as a donation, to GOSHCC. The outstanding balance of £687 must be received by the Charity no later than one month after your return.
The total cost for the Challenge will be £2,950 (at least 50 per cent of this will come to the Charity).
How will I raise this money?
We will send you a full Fundraising Pack containing loads of great fundraising ideas, sponsor forms and promotional materials. You can also set up an online fundraising page and the Challenge Events Team are always on hand to offer you advice and support.
What will I be getting?
- All flights, transport and transfers
- All accommodation and all meals (except for two meals)
- Discover Adventure leader(s), doctor(s) and GOSH representative(s)
- Private bus and local guides, porters and cooks
Fuel Surcharge
Any fuel surcharges imposed by the airline are not included in the total amount to fundraise. The charity is not able to bear the cost of the surcharge; the extra cost (usually £80-£150) must be met by the participants and must be paid before departure. The charity receives notification of the surcharge 4-6 weeks before departure and invoices will be sent out to all participants thereafter.
How fit do I need to be?
This trek is rated as moderate and requires a good level of fitness, but don’t worry we’ll provide you with a comprehensive training programme.

Yes, if you organise this early on. Contact Discover Adventure Ltd on 01722 718 444 for further details.
What else should I know?
Vehicles take the group to the start of the trek and meet us at the end. All the luggage is carried by the vehicles to our overnight accommodation. Vehicles also meet us for the transfers as detailed in the itinerary.
It is essential that your luggage is carried in either a soft sailing bag or soft rucksack. In addition you should bring a small daypack for items needed during the day. Walking is predominantly on flagstones of various conditions on the Wall and partly on paths though the woodland or farmland. At times it is rough and rocky underfoot. There are also many steps.
We are travelling through remote mountains where we could be exposed to bad weather at any time.
