Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has been supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) since 2010 as title sponsor of the charity’s annual family fun run, RBC Race for the Kids and the partnership has grown far beyond this to a truly strategic relationship.

Trade for the Kids raises £150,000 inaugural London RBC Trading Day

In a new and exciting development for our partnership, RBC held their first trading day in London for GOSH, Teenage Cancer Trust and Ronald McDonald House. Three GOSH patients, Faiza, Cameron and Jamie attended to chat to RBC traders about their experiences at the hospital and why supporting GOSH's work is so important. At the end of the day, RBC announced that £450,000 had been raised, £150,000 for each charity.

Record breaking year for RBC Race for the Kids

The 2016 RBC Race for the Kids event took place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with more than 7,500 participants taking part. RBC continues to engage its employees and their families with the event and 2016 was a record breaking year. They made up over 1,800 of the overall field, and raised over £240,000.

We are now looking ahead to the 2017 RBC Race for the Kids, working closely with RBC to make sure it is another amazing year.

Passing the £2 million milestone

RBC has now surpassed the wonderful total of £2 million and whilst our relationship started as a sponsorship arrangement, we are delighted that our partnership has grown far beyond its original objectives.

Early in 2016, they supported our Evening Standard and Independent appeal with a generous donation of £100,000 which was matched by the government. The money raised by RBC is playing a fundamental role in funding the expansion of our world-class Neurosciences Centre.

Dave Thomas, CEO, RBC Capital Markets, Europe said: “We have worked in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity for over six years with the RBC Race for the Kids becoming our flagship sponsorship event in London, giving the public a great opportunity to help the hospital’s young patients.”

Tim Johnson, Chief Executive, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity said: “Royal Bank of Canada is a fantastic friend to the hospital, helping year on year to make our RBC Race for the Kids event such a success.”
