Get sponsored

You can get sponsored for anything! The only limit is your own imagination. Here are some ideas to get you started.

  • Do something all your friends would pay to see (like getting all your hair shaved off)!

  • Organise a sponsored swim, walk, cycle or run and get everyone you know involved

  • If the gym's more your thing - why not get sponsored to row the Channel without getting wet?

  • Do a sponsored skydive - the sky's the limit!

How to maximise your sponsorship

Go online

Set up a sponsorship page with justgiving - it's really easy to do and the site takes you step by step through everything. Once you've got the page set up get the link out everywhere you can.

  • Email all your friends, families and contacts in your email address book

  • Post on your Facebook page - don't forget to include the link!

  • Become a fan of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity on Facebook  and post on our wall

  • Tweet on your twitter feed and don't forget to tell people where to go to sponsor you

Ask everyone you know

It's safe to say that if you don't ask you don't get and so the more people you ask, the more donations you'll get and the more money you'll raise for us!

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a great way to make every sponsor's donation worth over 25 per cent more and it won't cost them a penny. All they need to do is tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsor form or make a Gift Aid declaration when sponsoring you on your just giving page.

This enables us to claim tax back from the government and increases the overall benefit to the charity. Please note that for us to claim Gift Aid on donations each individual will need to be a tax payer and have paid more tax than the amount of tax we reclaim from the government.

More information on Gift Aid can be found here.

Top tips

  • Try and make sure your biggest sponsor is at the top of the sponsorship form (it'll help encourage people who sponsor after them to give more)

  • Use facts about the charity to motivate people to give more generously. You can find out more about why we need your help here.

And finally...

Don't forget that every penny counts... whatever you raise it makes a huge difference!
