Transplant surgery - the waiting game

Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the world’s leading centres for children’s heart and lung transplants. Since 1988, when our transplant programme began, 387 children have been given the chance of life thanks to the skills of specialist cardiac surgeons and the transplant team.

Dickens desk

Dickens desk auctioned at Christie's

Charles Dickens' writing desk and chair sell for £433,250 at Christie's with proceeds benefiting Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The desk and chair had passed by family descent to Christopher Charles Dickens (1937-1999) and his wife Jeanne–Marie Dickens, Countess Wenckheim.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity announces a £15 m donation from Aditya and Megha Mittal and the family, towards a new £321 m children’s medical centre, to be named the Mittal Children’s Medical Centre.
