Stay awake a-thon

Late one night, or should I say early one morning three girls from Wycombe Abbey school were playing board games at a sleepover, a sleepover with a purpose... not to fall asleep!

This was not only as a challenge for the girls but to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

They managed to stay awake for 22 hours, from 7:30 in the morning until around 5:30 the next day when staying awake became just too difficult.

Overall they raised £502, which was an excellent achievement.

Money was raised by collecting donations from staff and pupils at the college as well as being sponsored by family and friends to dress up.

In March 2007 Matthew Stein (centre) had a double lung transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).  Matthew says "It was a great success and I owe my life to Tom, my donor, and the superb skills and care of the cardiothoracic transplant team there".

In his second fundraiser for the charity Matthew and his friends David  Freeman and James Thorpe took part in a sponsored tricycle ride from London to Paris, which raised a magnificent £7637.

Triathlon Challenge

Stephen Woodford and Tom Davis recently completed a triathlon in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.

The 14 year olds from Brentwood School in Essex both swam 1 mile, cycled 5 miles and ran 3 miles!  Stephen said "It was really hard, but I'm so pleased that we made it".

The boys raised almost £400 in sponsorship for the charity.
