Store collector

Role description

Take part in collections as part of a team or working alone. Collect, count, receipt and bank proceeds from collections at various locations like supermarkets, shopping centres or train stations. 

This volunteer role profile is a guideline to details relating to this role. Changes can be made on an individual basis.

Tasks

  • Help the charity develop links with potential stores in the community

  • Ensure accurate receipting of income from store collections so that effective records detailing location and income generated can be held

  • Manage and develop the relationship between store managers and yourself/the charity under the supervision of the Regional Fundraiser

  • Ensure accurate and timely counting and banking of income

  • Thank store managers for income raised

Skills that may assist with this role

  • Experience of handling, receipting and banking cash

  • Good communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds

  • Ability to work as part of a team and also on own initiative

  • Able to lift and carry heavy objects i.e. buckets of loose change

  • Willingness to undertake any training required

  • Able to demonstrate commitment and willingness to implement the charity's equal opportunities policy

Flexible – to be agreed with Regional Fundraising Manager.

Work in a store or at a street collection within the community

Volunteer responsible to

Regional Fundraising Manager or Regional Co-ordinator responsible for supporting, supervising and managing the volunteer.

  • Expenses – all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed
