Volunteer co-ordinator

Role description

You will be willing to travel and make a positive difference by managing a small team of volunteers. This role could involve assisting in the recruitment, induction, support and motivation of other volunteers and provides a communication channel between Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity staff and volunteers. With your volunteer managers’ support, you will identify training needs, maintain records and equip new volunteers. Full training is provided.

Tasks

  • Assist in the recruitment, induction, support and motivation of other volunteers.

  • Manage and respond to enquiries from potential volunteers

  • Assist in building relationships with local volunteer bureaus, local newspapers

  • Induct new volunteers into Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity

  • Equip new volunteers with the practical skills to be effective and manage our charity collection boxes in their local area

  • Manage or book buckets collections

Skills required

  • To be able to lead, co-ordinate and motivate a team of volunteers

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills both face to face and on the phone

  • Ability to work on own initiative and organise and prioritise own workload

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and plan agreed activities

  • Ability to maintain accurate and effective records

  • Knowledge of the local area or a willingness to learn

  • Willingness to attend training and team meetings

  • Able to demonstrate commitment and willingness to implement Great Ormond Street Hospital's Equal Opportunities Policy

Flexible – to be agreed with Regional Fundraising Manager

Home based with travel to volunteers within the community.

  • Training internal and external.

  • Ongoing support.

  • Expenses – all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
