Great Ormond Street Hospital has the largest centre for childhood cancer in the UK and Europe and currently delivers the widest range of specialist care of any children’s hospital in the UK.

Along with its research partner, the Institute of Child Health, the Hospital is the only academic bio-medical research centre in the UK that specialises exclusively on children’s health.

As one of the world’s most advanced and respected children’s research hospitals, it is the duty of Great Ormond Street Hospital to pioneer new research, develop more advanced and less toxic treatments for all childhood cancers and ultimately seek cures to eradicate the terrible trauma and suffering caused by childhood cancers. We have a proud history of working with children suffering with cancer - a history that has been supported by the wonderful generosity of charitable benefactors.

Working hand-in-hand with the UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH) – a world leader in paediatric research – Great Ormond Street Hospital continues to develop ground-breaking techniques and procedures. Progress in basic science is being translated into clinical practice for the benefit of our patients at Great Ormond Street as well as children in other hospitals around the world.

As the largest children’s cancer centre outside the USA, it is vital that Great Ormond Street Hospital provides the very best equipment and facilities for our cancer patients and continues to advance important new research programmes into the condition. This will help us provide the best possible care and give us the best possible chance of better understanding childhood cancers and radically improving the treatment of those children who are afflicted by them.

Great Ormond Street Hospital, in partnership with the Institute of Child Health, is determined to create a brighter future for children with cancer, ensuring that they can go on to live a full life, reaching their full potential.  Our guiding principle is the child first and always and as such are aim is to continue to develop the best possible research, care and treatment facilities for children.

Through developing better procedures, producing more research and working with patients, we will make new findings, develop new treatments and create new hope for more children with cancer.
