Great Ormond Street Hospital patients from across the UK were Bernie Ecclestone’s VIP guests at this year’s Formula 1™ Santander British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

30 patients, fanatical about Formula 1™, were treated to a once in a lifetime experience at the Formula 1™ weekend.

Access all areas

They had access to all areas, witnessing the qualifying laps and races, plus seeing the inner workings of the British Grand Prix.

Further driving delights were in store with exclusive visits to the teams’ garages and the unique opportunity to meet drivers and technicians.

One lucky lad even had the opportunity to drive with BBC’s Top Gear’s, The Stig.

Matthew has had a wonderful dream day out and we have all had a fantastic time – thank you all so much.

Volunteers raise over £26,000

Bernie Ecclestone also kindly provided passes for fundraising volunteers to join the team at Silverstone and to help raise vital money for the redevelopment of our new Heart and Lung Centre.

We had some very committed and hardworking volunteers who helped us to raise a grand total of over £26,000, a huge achievement.

It’s been a really great day.  I have been amazed at people’s generosity.  Thanks to GOSH for looking after us so well too!  As charity champion it has been an inspiration to see what we can achieve as an office target!
