Weston House

Weston House

Weston House was completed in 2004 at a cost of £14 million.

This building houses the Paul O'Gorman Patient Hotel, which provides short-term accommodation for daycare patients who do not need the acute services of an inpatient ward and their families.

It provides 30 patient and family rooms and eight transitional care flats.

As well as providing accommodation for families who have to travel long distances to London and need somewhere to stay very close to the hospital, the transitional care flats provide a supportive home-from-home environment where families can learn to provide the specialist care that their child needs before they return home or to their local hospital.

This reduces the stress of hospital visits for children and families who live outside London and allows us to admit more critically ill children into the hospital who do need to stay overnight.

The journey from South Wales to London takes three and a half hours, which becomes very stressful if we do all the travelling in one day. The accommodation really is a stress buster as we don't have to worry about where we will stay when we get here. It gives us extra peace of mind and it's so nice to have somewhere that you can call home while you're here.

Also located in Weston House is our new Staff Education and Training Centre, containing the latest training technology and facilities.

Weston House is located opposite the hospital’s main entrance on Great Ormond Street.

The facilities provided here are central to the provision of care for all of our patients.

The building has been named in recognition of the late Mr Garry Weston and the long standing, generous support we receive from the Garfield Weston Foundation.
