The new heart and lung centre

Great Ormond Street Hospital is the largest centre for children with heart problems in the UK and the largest centre for heart and lung transplantation in the world.

Our patients include:

• those on the Berlin Heart who are waiting for a heart transplant
  

• open heart surgery patients
  

• patients who have undergone a heart transplant
  

• ECMO patients
  

• tracheal patients
  

• hole in the heart surgery patients

We have outgrown our facilities

With the incredible advances in technology over the last 30 years and changes in patient care, we need more space for our patients and their families.

The new world-class heart and lung centre will:

• provide highly specialised care for seriously ill children
  
• promote advances in our understanding of heart and lung disease through new research facilities
• allow us to care for the children in an environment that is conducive to healing
