The centre has been designed with the help of the professionals and families who will use it and will provide modern inpatient facilities that are spacious, comfortable and practical.

The new children's kidney centre will enable us to treat more children in a safer environment and will improve the overall hospital experience significantly by providing:

  • individual rooms with en suite facilities offering more dignity and privacy for our patients

  • space to accommodate families comfortably by their child’s bedside

  • play rooms with seperate adolescent areas will cater for all ages, offering vital space away from the bedside

  • seperate treatment rooms will be the only place where clinical procedures are undertaken, meaning that the patient's bed space is seen as a safe area

With new improved facilities we could further our pioneering research into severe kidney conditions, developing new and better ways of treating kidney problems and even preventing them in the first place.

The new children's kidney centre will literally mean a new life for thousands of children every year who suffer from kidney problems.
