Partnership with the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health

The centre will be uniquely positioned within a hub of child health expertise, located adjacent to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.

This unique partnership forms the largest concentration of paediatric research and clinical expertise in Europe. Together, GOSH and ICH have been at the forefront of many breakthroughs in children’s medicine and their work has benefited the lives of children all over the world.

Clinical excellence is underpinned by pioneering medical research, which is why GOSH is one of the top five children’s research hospitals in the world. Young patients, from babies to teenagers, come to the hospital from all over the UK and from across the globe suffering with severe, complex and often life-threatening medical conditions. This puts the hospital in a unique position to lead this type of research because they probably see more children with rare conditions and a wider diversity than any other hospital in the world.

The strategic positioning of the new centre and its proximity to both GOSH and ICH is vital for a truly translational and patient-focussed approach to research, building on existing strengths and bringing together teams to embody our bench-to-bedside model.
