History of The X Factor and Great Ormond Street Hospital
Find out how previous stars and judges of The X Factor have shown their support for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Alexandra with Jade
The ‘You Are Not Alone’ charity single is not the first time that The X Factor has shown its support for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
In 2006, The X Factor winner Leona Lewis visited the hospital days after her victory to share her success with the patients.
The X Factor winners
In doing so, Leona began one of our favourite annual traditions – the visit of The X Factor winner to the hospital.
Since then we have been thrilled to see the tradition continue with Leon Jackson and recent chart-topper Alexandra Burke. And we have our fingers crossed for the 2009 winner!
Surprise visits
The hospital has also welcomed popular The X Factor contestants Ben Mills and Ray Quinn.
In 2005 winner Shayne Ward was also a surprise guest at one of our patient’s birthday celebrations.
Special events
As well as visiting the hospital, several of The X Factor finalists have been involved with our events including:
- Leon Jackson attended a specialist department’s Summer Party in 2008
- Same Difference attended the Children’s Christmas Party in 2008
- Rhydian Roberts performed at the Christmas Carol Concert in 2008
- Leon Jackson attended the launch party for our Kiss it Better appeal in 2008
But it’s not only the contestants that support Great Ormond Street Hospital. Some of The X Factor judges have brought cheer to patients with surprise private visits.
