Legacy FAQs and useful links

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) has helped to fund research that has changed the way we treat young people like Teigan (above), who took part in a pioneering gene therapy trial to treat her rare immunodeficiency. Such research has been made possible, in part, thanks to the vital funding received from those who have left a gift in their Will.

Why does GOSH Charity offer free Will-writing services?

We offer free Will-writing services to help make it easier for you to write or update your Will. Many people who use the services also choose to support us by including a gift in their Will to GOSH Charity.

Is any Will free?

Our free Will service covers most simple Wills. As a charity, we must be very careful how we spend our money, so we have agreed fixed fees to write a straightforward Will with our partners at the National Free Wills Network and The Goodwill Partnership. For a more complex Will, for example involving property abroad or a discretionary trust, our service would not cover the entire cost.

Do I have to leave GOSH Charity a gift in my Will?

There’s no obligation to leave a gift in your Will to GOSH Charity, but once you’ve considered all the important people in your life, we hope you’ll be inspired to do so. Any gift left to GOSH Charity in a Will, no matter how large or small, will help us to provide world-class care for generations of children to come.

Who will write my Will?

If you choose to be put in touch with your nearest participating solicitor through the National Free Wills Network, a participating solicitor will help you write or update your Will as part of our free Will-writing service. If you opt for the face-to-face service in the comfort of your own home, The Goodwill Partnership will arrange for a trained counsellor to visit you at home to discuss your wishes before passing your instructions on to a solicitor who will then write your Will.
