Fundraising round up – spring 2016
27 May 2016, 5:32 p.m.
Over recent months our corporate partners have fundraised tirelessly for the hospital while hitting incredible fundraising milestones along the way. A full calendar of events has seen the launch of a new charity product, a swimming challenge and an Easter-themed fundraising week. Take a look at the highlights below.
May the 4th be with you: Star Wars takeover and Disney/The Sun appeal
Disney organised a Star Wars take-over at the hospital in honour of 4 May (Star Wars Day), which included the screening of the Star Wars cartoon, The Rebels, on the bedside entertainment system and goody bags to all patients. As part of the campaign, The Sun launched an appeal in support of GOSH with both Disney and The Sun pledging to match donations.
Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants – National Charity Week
Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants celebrated its eighth National Charity Week this Easter. Brands including Premier Inn, Beefeater and Brewer’s Fayre took part in Easter-themed fundraising activities such as the bunny bonanza prize draw and a Bernard Bear Easter-egg hunt with the aim of raising £200,000 from the campaign.
Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. visits GOSH
Robert Downey Jr. spent time with the patients and families on Lion, Giraffe and Elephant ward and generously gifted each patient a voucher to Hamley’s. Robert also met Ethan, who is a massive Iron Man fan and dresses up as his hero when he comes to GOSH. We’d like to say a massive thank you to Disney for making this visit possible.
Tobar “Hop for GOSH”
A special edition purple GOSH space hopper was kindly designed by Tobar Group Trading Ltd as part of our ongoing partnership. It comes in two sizes, Junior (3+) and Retro (5+), and the charity receives 10 per cent of the sales proceeds of every space hopper sold. So make sure you get your hands on one and Hop for GOSH this summer. You can buy yours in our shop.
Clinique – Run or Dye 5k
Clinique is continuing their support for the Kiss it Better appeal by choosing GOSH as the beneficiary of the world’s most colourful 5k! The Clinique Run or Dye 5k is taking place at Penshurst Place, Kent on 3 July and participants will be running around the course getting covered in dye and paint, while raising funds for GOSH.
Butlins Croc Attack!
As part of our ongoing partnership with Butlins the leisure team at the Bognor resort took on a Croc Attack challenge. Employees completed 1,852 runs of Croc Attack, which is an inflatable course in their swimming pool, raising £2,000. Check out a video they took of the event here!
