The Better Together Celebration Event 2019

On the 26th of March, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) hosted our 5th annual Better Together celebration. We were thrilled to welcome over 100 guests representing over 40 partners into the hospital to recognise their employees’ incredible efforts in supporting GOSH.

Celebrating the impact of support

This year’s event was hosted by TV host, and former GOSH patient Alex Brooker. Alex was treated by GOSH throughout his childhood and shared the impact his treatment has had on his life.

We were also honoured to be joined by Dominic Thompson: a Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Dominic is the lead Neurosurgeon, in the joint effort by GOSH and UCLH, who conducted the UK first specialist fetal surgery for Spina Bifida. It was fantastic to hear his story from his personal perspective and demonstrate just how powerful the impact research has. It was fascinating to hear how the charity was able to support his amazing team and their journey to achieve such pioneering results.

Charity champion of the year

This year we awarded Carol from Butlin’s this year’s Charity Champion 2019. Carol has been at the forefront of fundraising, both in terms of actually generating donations but also supporting and empowering teams across multiple sites, to achieve the most they can to support GOSH.

Carol has lead the way arranging team challenges such as a 30 team climb of Snowdon a day playing ‘Human Monopoly’ in London, a 12-mile challenge across the South Downs involving 50 people and getting the Butlin’s director team to climb three peaks in the Lake District.
Carol is a wholehearted supporter of the partnership who leads by example and we are pleased to award her this title.

An evening of thanks

The evening was a real GOSH family affair, TAS restaurants generously provided a delicious feast to enjoy, whilst Marks & Spencer kindly donated the wine. We even had our very own GOSH Biscuits hand crafted by the creative crew at Biscuiteers to give to guests as they left. A huge thank you to all our partners who supported this event and our guests for attending.

It is only because of the dedication and commitment of our Corporate Partners that we can deliver outstanding care for all children who come to GOSH.

Our partners’ support enables us to fund vital paediatric research, state of the art equipment, support services and the rebuilding of old, cramped wards so we can treat more patients.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in our Corporate Partnerships. You have played a pivotal role in GOSH’s history and countless seriously ill children now and in the future will benefit from your support.
