Big Play Date FAQs

Keen to get friends and family together this summer? Well, being involved with the Big Play Date is the perfect excuse. From 6–13 July 2019, we’re encouraging the nation to host their own play date and raise money to help fund the Play services at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

You can hold your play date wherever you like and invite whoever you like – it’s completely up to you.

Read our frequently asked questions (FAQs) below. If your question isn’t answered please contact the team at bigplaydate@gosh.org or call 020 3841 3270. You can find our Terms and Conditions here.

Where will the money I've raised go?

Any donation(s) received in relation to the Big Play Date event(s) will be used to fund the Play services at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.  Our target for this appeal is to raise £12,150.

In the event that additional donations are received over and above our target and/or the needs of the hospital or patients change, we reserve the right to redirect funds for use against the hospital’s most urgent needs.

How will you use the money I've raised?

The money you raise at your play date will help Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity fund the Play team at the hospital.

The Play team has a vital role in giving children a more positive experience of their hospital stay. The team, made up of both play workers and play specialists, bring fun into the hospital while helping to ease fears and concerns. They let children be children, helping them to feel comfortable and relaxed, while working with them to prepare for life-saving treatment and surgery. They use techniques such as role play, drawing and practising their procedures on toys to enable the children to gain mastery and control over their treatment. Find out more here.
