Kilimanjaro for GOSH

Kilimanjaro is one of the most incredible treks in the world, not just for the experience and the amazing views but also for the physical challenge of summiting the tallest freestanding mountain on Earth. This is a challenge like no other and, by taking it on, you would be helping GOSH to raise vital funds. Every day brings new challenges at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Every day, 618 children and young people from across the UK arrive. Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs. And every day is a chance for you to make a difference. This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfil their potential.

A better future for seriously ill children starts here.

The route

The Rongai Route trek approaches from the north and is one of the least frequented trails on Kilimanjaro, which is perfect for those looking for a more ‘wilderness’ experience. It isn't an ‘easier’ Kilimanjaro route, but the first few days are a bit shorter, and the pace is more relaxed - offering good acclimatisation. Through forest, the trail climbs steadily up to Mawenzi tarn in the shadow of Mawenzi Peak, before crossing the barren landscape of 'The Saddle'. From base camp at Kibo it is a tough but rewarding ascent up to Kilimanjaro's summit via Gillman’s Point and Stella Point - where we will feel on top of the world!
