In October this year, we're holding the Sight and Sound Gala to raise vital funds for the new Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Sight and Sound Centre, supported by Premier Inn. At this unique gala, guests will be treated to a sumptuous three-course meal and fantastic entertainment in an impressive venue.

We all sense the world around us differently. But for children with sight and hearing loss, it can be an overwhelming and frightening place.

Children and young people with hearing and sight loss are the largest group of outpatients to visit GOSH, with around 8,000 patients seen each year. The existing facilities at GOSH don’t currently offer enough dedicated rooms for the ophthalmology and audiology teams. The complex tests staff carry out require children to be engaged, calm and co-operative, but the existing facilities can make it difficult for staff to gather the important information they need to assess, support or treat each child.

In 2020, GOSH plans to celebrate the opening of a new facility for these outpatients: the Sight and Sound Centre. The centre aims to provide a tailored environment for children with sight and hearing impairments, and will be home to unique sensory experiences for its visitors.

We need to raise £25 million to cover the cost of the centre. You can read more about the centre and its development, or donate towards the centre here.

The Sight and Sound Centre is an incredibly worthwhile redevelopment project that will improve the lives of a huge number of our patients, and attending the Sight and Sound Gala is an exciting way to support it.
