75% of rare diseases affect children. Right now, one in three will die before their fifth birthday.

We need to raise £50 million over five years

To tackle rare and complex childhood illnesses
To find more precise and faster diagnoses
To drive forward clinical trials
To pioneer new, kinder and more effective treatments
To discover life-changing cures

By funding visionary thinkers, new ideas and the most state-of-the-art research environment, we’ll drive progress in six areas of medicine. These areas are where GOSH and its research partner, the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (ICH), have the world leading expertise to make the greatest difference:

We’ll concentrate our investment on personalised medicine, tailored to each child’s disease. We’ll focus our funding on taking discoveries out from the laboratories and onto the wards, as quickly as possible. And we’ll help researchers tackle today’s biggest questions in children’s medicine.

This will all be underpinned by technology. From big data to robotics and artificial intelligence, we want to be the first hospital to realise the full potential of technology so that we can revolutionise healthcare globally.

But we cannot do this alone.
