What happened last year?

In 2017, the OSCAR Dragon Boat Race raised over £150,000 and was a truly inspiring day with a healthy dose of competition! North P&I, winners in 2016, were knocked off the top spot by Lomar Shipping who as well as being the stars on the day also raised a brilliant £5,637.

Fundraising league table

With seconds being knocked off the race times for the top fundraisers, there was plenty of competition off the water as well. See the top three below and the full table on JustGiving

1) Union Maritime - £28,450

2) Borealis Maritime Limited - £16,805

3) "K" Line LNG UK - £8,002

The top fundraisers were Union Maritime who, incredibly, almost reached six times the £5,000 fundraising target! Remember all the money you raise makes a difference to seriously ill children across the world. Thank you to everyone who took part in 2017:

A.M. Nomikos & Sons (UK) Ltd, Waves Group, Hill Dickinson LLP, The Baltic Exchange Ltd, Lomar Shipping, AET UK Limited, "K" Line LNG Shipping (UK Limited), Borealis Maritime Limited, Neon Underwriting, Union Maritime Limited, The North of England P&I Association, SKULD P&I, John Swire & Sons Ltd, Thomas Miller, Campbell Johnson Clark, Liberian Registry, CI-Connect Ltd, Ince & Co LLP, Nectar Group Limited, Arrow Shipbroking Group, Spinnaker Global Ltd, Lloyd's Register, Moore Stephens LLP.

“Thanks to the companies listed above and all previous teams, for the last four years we’ve seen the shipping industry come together to make something really special happen. So far, the OSCAR Campaign has raised an incredible £1.65 million to help advance pioneering medical treatment for seriously ill children around the world. But, there’s a lot more to be done. Child health research receives just 5% of UK research funding, which is why we’re now aiming for the £2 million milestone. Sign up for the OSCAR Dragon Boat Race this year, network with your shipping industry peers, have fun and – most importantly - save lives.”
