GOSH Charity COVID-19 Appeal

GOSH Charity COVID-19 appeal

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) has launched an appeal to help fund both the hospital’s most urgent needs now and support its vital work once this crisis is over.
As Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) plays a role in the national response by treating more children from hospitals across London, resources will become increasingly stretched.
The hospital needs the support of the charity now more than ever, so it can continue to deliver the best, life-changing care for seriously ill children.
Please donate below to help us battle the COVID-19 crisis.

What will the emergency appeal fund?

Immediate support from the charity focuses on responding to equipment needs, supporting staff health and wellbeing, and helping GOSH meet demands on its patient and family support service.
Specifically, the money raised from the appeal will:
  • support of staff Health and Wellbeing
  • ensure that the Play Team can continue their work with children and help children build their resilience during this crisis, including producing activity packs to use during isolation
  • provide other vital services, such as the childcare service to staff so they can continue to come to work and treat patients, and other support services such as accommodation for parents, funding for Citizens Advice Bureau, the chaplaincy service, and family assistance vouchers
  • fund COVID19 upskilling sessions for clinical and non-clinical staff through the GOSH Learning Academy (GLA) and a PPE Fit Testing service.
  • pay for new scrubs for clinical staff members, and baby monitors to help staff and patients to communicate with each other between wards and assisting with social distancing measures
  • provide sensory toys for the Play Team to include in new activity packs
  • fund a coffee cart, which helps to provide coffee and refreshments for GOSH frontline workers each day

Life-changing care

During this unprecedented crisis, the charity must also continue to support the hospital to deliver the very best in life-changing care to children with rare and complex conditions. The need for this does not change because of the current crisis – the work is more important than ever to ensure there is no longer term impact on the care the hospital can deliver to seriously ill children, once the crisis is over.
Like other charities, GOSH Charity is facing disruption to its fundraising activities with many cancelled or postponed due to the ongoing crisis. The money raised from the appeal will help the charity to continue its support of the hospital at a time when it needs this support more than ever.
The money raised from the emergency appeal will help to ensure that the ongoing needs of the hospital continue to be met through this crisis and beyond, especially as those needs may change with time.
