Will the event still go ahead if the weather conditions are bad?

Come rain or snow, this year's London Santa Dash will still be taking place! We will take every precaution to make sure the event is safe and will only cancel it if we absolutely have to. We know it’s going to be cold (but we’re keeping our fingers crossed it’s going to be dry!), so please wear appropriate clothing, the Santa suit will only keep you so warm. Water will be provided as well as first aiders along the route to ensure the race is safe, accessible and enjoyable for all. We can’t wait to see you there!

Do I have to fundraise?

There is no official fundraising target, but we are encouraging everyone to try to raise a minimum of £100. This is a fundraising event where we are hoping to raise £300,000 to support the children at GOSH. Your registration fee goes towards the cost of putting on the event. Here are three easy fundraising ideas to reach £100.

  • Matched Giving - See if your company will match what you raise
  • Shout about it – Share the link to your JustGiving page on social media
  • Gift Aid – make sure your sponsors tick the Gift Aid box if applicable.

How does my donation make a difference?

Your registration fee contributes towards the cost of holding the event but by fundraising on top, you will help us to support the hospital’s most urgent needs. These include funding pioneering new treatments and research, providing cutting-edge equipment and supporting the rebuilding the hospital to provide state-of-the-art facilities to match the hospital’s world-class care. This money will make a vital difference to children from across the UK who are suffering from the rarest, most complex and often life-threatening conditions.

Below are some examples of how your support can help our patients and their families:

  •  £137 could cover the cost of a day of valuable research time for one of our world-leading scientists to try and make the next breakthrough.
  • £245 could pay for one could pay for one week’s stay in nearby family accommodation so parents can stay close by while their child is in hospital.
  • £568 could cover the cost of one of our play team for a week.. The efforts of the play team are essential in ensuring that children’s experience of the hospital is as stress-free as possible.

Will there be first aid?

Yes there will be first aiders including paramedics as well as security staff and water will also be provided on the day. The event is designed to be fun and open to all abilities so we encourage people to stay at their own pace and enjoy the day. We also ask runners to provide emergency contact details for family and friends in case of an emergency on the back of their running number.
