Disney Pennine Way Challenge 2010
37 Disney cast members tackled 23 miles of the Pennine Way in aid of the Disney Appeal.
The Disney Pennine Way trekkers took on one of the UK’s most famous walking challenges on Saturday 29 May 2010.
The Disney cast members walked for an impressive 11 hours in a battle against the elements, fighting continual rain and wind.
During the day the group took in breathtaking scenery as they climbed up from the tiny village of Edale and explored the high Kinder Plateau, before descending into the small town of Castleton.
Each participant was challenged to raise a minimum of £325 and together - with individual sponsorship and fundraising events such as the Pennine Way quiz, a Disney sample sale and a raffle - the group smashed their target and raised over £28,000.
To celebrate the huge achievement of all 37 Disney cast members completing the challenge and raising such a fantastic amount, they spent the evening in one of the local pubs in the beautiful town of Castleton before returning to London on the Sunday.
The Pennine Way Challenge was a fantastic experience! Knowing that all the money we were raising was going towards the Disney Appeal to support the hospital redevelopment project was incredibly motivating. We were so delighted when it was announced at the evening meal that together as a group we had raised over £28,000. Despite the appalling weather conditions, there was a great team spirit on the day. The Pennine Way Challenge was a fantastic personal challenge for me as I had to push myself to the limit in order to complete the 23 miles.
