Tim Johnson, the Chief Executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, has announced he will be leaving at the end of March 2019 to take up a position with fundraising consultancy More Partnership. This new position will see Mr Johnson helping a diverse range of organisations to fundraise more effectively. Mr Johnson has been at the Charity since 2002.

He said: “During my time as Chief Executive, I have often been asked to provide advice and guidance to organisations wishing to increase their fundraising. This new role therefore seemed a logical next step. By drawing on the incredible experience at GOSH and my earlier fundraising career, I hope to share what I have learnt to enable a wide variety of organisations to make a difference to the causes they serve.

“The decision to leave GOSH was not an easy one. When I look back at all that the charity, thanks to our generous donors, has helped the hospital to achieve – treating more patients, advancing pioneering research to improve patient outcomes and helping to enhance the experience for patients and their families – I could not be more proud.”

John Connolly, Chair of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, said: “Tim has done an extraordinary job leading the charity. Not only has he significantly increased the amount of funds raised to support the hospital and the children and families but he has also introduced incredibly high standards of fundraising and good governance across the organisation.

“Under his leadership, the charity has also amplified its support for much-needed paediatric research. The successful integration with Sparks is further helping the charity support transformative research from across the UK.

"Tim will be much missed by the Board of Trustees and the charity but this is a great opportunity for him to draw on his considerable experience to help multiple organisations fulfil their fundraising potential. We wish him the very best in this new role.”

Work will now be undertaken to appoint Mr Johnson’s successor.
