This summer, Candis magazine has chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity to be in with a chance of winning a £10,000 donation in their first ever Charity Challenge.

Between now and Saturday 10 August, the magazine is offering readers the chance to vote for the charity they would like to receive an incredible £10,000 donation.

If Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity is chosen, the money will go towards a new patient transfer monitor, a vital piece of equipment which monitors a patient's vital signs throughout their transfer from theatre to intensive care. For our young patients, this transfer is crucial, as children are very fragile following surgery and need to be closely monitored to ensure that their condition does not deteriorate.

This equipment will benefit patients like Ellie, who was diagnosed dilated cardiomyopathy when she was nearly two years old. The condition had irreversibly damaged her heart. After spending five months at Great Ormond Street Hospital on an artificial heart machine known as a Berlin Heart, Ellie's family got the news they were waiting for - the transplant team had found a new heart. Following eight hours in surgery, Ellie was transfered to intensive care to recover, and 14 days after the transplant was well enough to go home. Ellie is now doing well.

You can cast your vote and help us raise £10,000 by visiting the Candis Charity Challengewebsite, and help us spread the word by sharing the news with family and friends, on Facebook and on Twitter. Voting closes on Saturday 10 August 2013.
