Great Ormond Street Hospital provides inspirational and world-class care to hundreds of children every day. But we need to raise over £50 million every year to help give hope to very sick children and their families.

Throughout its long history, Great Ormond Street Hospital has always relied on public support, even after the founding of the NHS in 1948. Our mission as a charity is to raise money to enable the hospital to continue to provide the very best care for its young patients and their families.

The support from the charity is concentrated in four main areas ‑ redevelopment, research, medical equipment, and accommodation and welfare. Find out how far your support goes by reading through each of our sections below.

Redevelopment

Our ambitious programme to rebuild two thirds of the hospital will give everyone the space they need, making cramped, outdated wards a thing of the past.

Research

Since our hospital opened in 1852, ground-breaking research has always been crucial to our ability to offer a chance of life to the very sick children in our care.

Equipment

Every year we fund replacement or additional medical equipment, to ensure we take advantage of technical advances and deliver better care to our patients.

Patient and family support

We believe in caring not only for the child, but for the whole family. Patient and family support comes in many forms, from financial advice and spiritual counselling, to the provision of accommodation for parents.
