Questions about TCS London Marathon
What is a charity place and how do I apply?
Applications for our places in the 2026 TCS London Marathon are now open and you can apply for a place.
Each year, GOSH Charity has a number of TCS London Marathon entry places. Due to a high demand for places, we operate an application system.
Unfortunately, we always receive more applications than we have places, so we can't guarantee that everyone who applies will be able to secure a marathon place.
An email will be sent to all applicants to let them know the outcome of their application.
What is the deadline to apply for a 2026 charity place?
Our applications are likely to close in July 2025, and we will be allocating places up until January 2026.
Do I need to do anything to confirm my registration as a charity place runner?
If you're successful in your application, you'll be sent an email offering you a place and asking you to complete your registration and pay your £120 registration fee.
Closer to the event taking place, charity place runners will also receive an invite from London Marathon Events asking them to complete their secondary registration form online for the 2026 TCS London Marathon. We'll send you an email at the same time, reminding you to complete this registration.
London Marathon Events will announce specific deadlines for this closer to the time, however we expect this secondary registration process to open in late 2025. Please note, if you don't complete your second stage registration before the deadline, you will not be able to participate on race day.
I am unable to take part in the 2026 TCS London Marathon. Can I defer my GOSH Charity place to next year?
We understand that things might not always go to plan, and we ask that you reach out to us as soon as possible if you are unable to take part.
If you have raised at least 50% of your fundraising commitment (£1,250, excluding Gift Aid), you will be given the option to defer* your place to the following year. If you choose to defer*, you will need to re-pay the registration fee of £120, and your fundraising will be deferred and will count towards the new event.
GOSH Charity places can only be deferred once, and all registration fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
If you have raised less than 50% of your fundraising commitment, you will need to reapply when our applications for GOSH Charity places open for the following year.
*Deferrals are at the discretion of the Charity and are subject to there being enough places in the following year’s event. The Charity reserves the right to refuse a deferral request.
Please reach out to the team on challenges@gosh.org if you have any further questions.
What is a ballot place and how do I apply?
A ballot place refers to a place that you have secured with the TCS London Marathon event organisers, via the public ballot. The 2026 TCS London Marathon ballot has now closed and results will be drawn in July 2025.
How do I use my ballot place to run for GOSH Charity?
If you have secured a TCS London Marathon ballot place, you can choose to run for GOSH Charity. We'd love to have you! There is no minimum fundraising pledge for ballot place runners, we just ask you raise as much as you can.
You can join TeamGOSH with your ballot place on our website, by completing our own place form – this form will be live in July 2025, once the results have been drawn.
How much do I need to fundraise?
We ask charity place runners to raise a minimum of £2,500 (excluding GiftAid), and to pay a £120 registration fee upon being offered a place.
There is no minimum fundraising target for ballot place runners, or if you have your own place in the event another way. We only ask you to raise what you can.
What fundraising platform should I use to fundraise?
We would recommend that you set up your online fundraising page using either the official online fundraising partner for the event, Enthuse, or JustGiving.
