It’s that sharing, caring time of year – help Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity give joy to seriously ill children and families this Christmas!

Here are our top 10 festive fundraising tips

  • Get crafty – sell all your Christmas crafts – from customised baubles and stockings to personalised gifts and stocking-fillers.

  • Set up a gift wrapping station – wrap your friends’, family’s or colleagues’ gifts in an exchange for donations.

  • Have a mince pie bake-off! – host a bake sale either at work or with your friends and family and crown the best mince pie baker! Go glitzy – dust off your sequins and celebrate in style: take a look at our guide to throwing a ball or gala. Plan a stunning meal, auction and some festive entertainment for your guests and start selling tickets.

  • Have all the fun with a festive fair – get in the holiday spirit with raffles, Christmas treats, market stalls and entertainment. You can sell tickets as well as taking donations on the day. Use this guide to start planning.

  • Collect those spare Christmas coins – organise a bucket collection at your local train station, shopping centre or at a festive event. Download our guide to help plan your collection.

  • Spread some festive cheer with a carol concert – find a venue and sell tickets, or go carolling in your community, collecting donations from listeners.

  • Wear it well with festive fancy dress – plan a Christmas jumper or dress-up day at school or work and ask participants to donate. You could give awards for the most creative, tasteful or tinselly jumper!

  • Ho-ho-hold your own Santa dash – organise a festive fun run with your local community. Just decide a date, time, local route and then make sure everyone wears their Santa hats!

  • Walk yourself warm this winter – get your family, friends, school or colleagues together for a local walk. Decide when and where and choose a fun theme. Why not ask everyone to wear their favourite festive socks?

Fundraising isn’t just for Christmas, take a look at our bonus New Year fundraising ideas

  • Give it up for GOSH Charity – lots of us are trying new things in the New Year. Why not get sponsored to take on Dry January or Veganuary?

  • Is your new year’s resolution to run? We can give you the motivation you need – just sign up to one of our many fantastic runs happening in 2026.

  • Time to declutter! The new year is the perfect time to pass on the things you no longer need. Sell them, give them a new home and donate the proceeds to GOSH Charity.
