Help stop cancer stealing childhoods

Cancer doesn’t care about childhood

Cancer doesn’t care what children miss out on when they go through their diagnosis and treatment. It doesn’t care how much their families want to protect them.

But at Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity), we do. And we know you do too.

When you donate to our Build it. Beat it. appeal today, you’ll be helping to build a world-class Children’s Cancer Centre that’s more than just a hospital. A place where children like Jess (pictured above) and their families can be fully supported – and have time together when they need it most.

Give today and together we’ll be one step closer to building a centre that offers:

  • a new critical care unit with dedicated family spaces and on-site accommodation
  • a bigger space for the school, and a new roof garden so seriously ill kids can still be kids, even when they can’t leave hospital
  • a built-in specialist pharmacy and special feeds unit
  • state-of-the-art inpatient wards for children receiving cancer care

Meet Jess's family

When Jess had surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to remove a rare, aggressive brain tumour, she was just three years old. Thankfully, her surgery and treatment went well.

“The recovery nurses said they hadn’t seen a child come round from brain surgery and just sit up,” says Jess’s dad, Lee. “About 36 hours after surgery, she was up and walking.” Jess is now six, and doing well, but the experience has been life-changing.

“What children have to go through is brutal,” says Lee. “Without research, Jess would never have had proton beam therapy – a game changer for her. If there are new, easier drugs that can be pioneered, it has to be done.”
