Ready, set, row!

It's time to rally your crew – friends, family or teammates – for a new challenge coming to the Thames this summer.

A beginner-friendly adventure for anyone ready to take on something new, the Great GOSH Row will see you and your crew pulling together for 16 miles from Greenwich to Chiswick on Thursday 17 July.

Paddling along the Thames in teams of eight, you’ll soak up views of the city from a whole new angle, guided by an expert coxswain on board.

What’s more, you’ll join our mission to help beat childhood cancer. With each oar-some team aiming to raise £3,000, you’ll be fun-raising for a brand new, state-of-the-art Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Together, we can Row it. Build it. Beat it.

What to expect at The Great GOSH Row

  • The Great GOSH Row is a team rowing event covering 16 miles from Greenwich to Chiswick.
  • Together with your team of eight (nine maximum), you'll take to the Thames in a fixed seat boat, designed to be robust and safe for people with little rowing experience.
  • Starting at Trafalgar Rowing Centre, you'll make your way along the Thames taking in the views around you. Once you reach Putney Bridge, it's time to 'Ready, Set, Row' as our timed section starts all the way to the finish line at Chiswick Bridge.
  • Each team will be provided with a professional coxswain on board. It's important to listen carefully and follow their instructions.
  • The event will be delivered by London Youth Rowing, specialists in delivering rowing activities on the Thames.
  • After your row, join us for a celebratory reception at the finish line at Mortlake Anglian and Alpha Boat Club.
  • Prizes to be won! From awards for the best dressed or fastest crew, to fundraising giveaways and more!

The Great GOSH Row Route

Why we need you

Cancer is the biggest killer of children aged one to 14 in the UK. But children with cancer don't have to die from the disease for it to take their life.

Living with cancer is different for every child. It can mean countless rounds of debilitating treatment. Not knowing when you’ll sleep in your own bed again. Missing out on parties and playdates and trips to the park.

Children with cancer can miss the moments that make up a childhood.

But we won’t let them.

We won't let cancer steal childhoods.

All funds raised through The Great GOSH Row will help build a world-leading, child-focused Children's Cancer Centre at GOSH.

Together, we can build it. Together, we can help beat childhood cancer.
