How to promote your fundraising
Tell your story
Sharing your story is one of the best ways to inspire support from your community. Here are our top tips for telling your story, whether it’s in a WhatsApp group, on your JustGiving page or in a speech at your fundraising event.
Let people know why you decided to fundraise for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity) and what it means to you. Consider sharing your connection to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH); your community can relate to this and will want to help. Talk about your experience in as much detail as you feel comfortable, whether that's focusing treatment or on other aspects like support from hospital staff.
If you don't have a direct connection to GOSH, share why you're supporting us and why you think the hospital's work is meaningful.
Highlight the difference people's support can make – you can share from your personal experience or use some of the stats shared in the “Talking about GOSH Charity” section below.
Get social
Social media is a powerful tool to shout about your fundraising and maximise support. Whether it’s friends on TikTok, family on WhatsApp or colleagues on LinkedIn – there are lots of platforms you can use to spread the word and raise as much as possible. For more tips and tricks, check out our guide on how to promote your fundraising online.
Not on social? Think about your in-person networks, such as work colleagues, friends at your sports or book club, or other families at school.

More top tips to promote your fundraiser
Looking for some more tips? Here are some of our top recommendations which have worked for other fundraisers:
Have a clear message about what you’re fundraising for and why. Try to be emotive and explain how your audience’s donations will help GOSH. Find more details on our “Talking about GOSH Charity” section below.
If you plan to make initial approaches to businesses for prizes or support through email, make it personal and try to find a named contact. Always follow up with a phone call. We can send you a letter of authorisation to share with any businesses you’re contacting.
Use the GOSH Charity “In aid of” logo for any social media and website promotion you might want to do. You can request the logo from us, just make sure to send your materials to us for approval before sharing.
Want an easy link to share on social media? Host a JustGiving page and watch the donations flow in! You can tell your story, add pictures, and as well as collecting donations throughout the event, you can also encourage people who can’t make the event to give generously. JustGiving also has the ability to set up a QR code, so you can easily share it and display it at the event.
Say thank you after the event. Contact attendees and those who donated or helped out to share the incredible total raised and to let them know how their support has made a difference.

What we do
GOSH Charity stops at nothing to help give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible. For the children from all over the UK who are treated by GOSH every day. For children with rare or complex illnesses everywhere. For this generation and all those to come. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to serious illness.
What we fund
Thanks to our incredible supporters and volunteers, we fund groundbreaking research, cutting-edge medical equipment and the building and refurbishment of child-centred facilities to help save more young lives, and essential support services that help save childhoods too.
