Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity) is delighted to welcome two new members to its Board of Trustees. Dr Leigh Brody and Kevin Aitchison MBE were appointed in January, and bring a wealth of expertise that will support the charity’s mission to ensure that seriously ill children have the best chance and best childhood possible.
Dr Leigh Brody is an investment manager at AlbionVC, where she invests in transformative technologies and therapeutics within the life sciences sector. Before joining AlbionVC, Dr Brody helped to create and grow several early-stage life science businesses, including Desktop Genetics and Quell Therapeutics. She also holds a PhD from Imperial College London.
Alongside her role as a trustee, Dr Brody will be a member of the charity’s Grants and Impact Committee, where her expertise in identifying and funding new technologies and therapeutics will be particularly valuable.
Kevin Aitchison MBE is Managing Director, Head of Europe at Savills Investment Management, a specialist real estate investment manager, and he brings extensive experience after 38 years in the industry. Kevin was previously Chair of Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby and in 2021, he was awarded an MBE for services to Wheelchair Rugby and disability.
Alongside his role as a Trustee, Kevin Atkinson MBE will be a member of the charity’s Property and Development Committee, and his experience in the real estate industry will further strengthen the Board's existing expertise in this area.
Dr Leigh Brody said: “GOSH Charity is the UK’s largest dedicated funder of child health research. As someone who’s spent my career translating exciting innovations into real life benefits for patients, I couldn’t be more excited by the opportunity to help the charity harness the power of research, and make a difference to seriously ill children from across the UK.”
Kevin Aitchison MBE said: “I am proud to have joined GOSH Charity’s board. With the charity in the midst of its biggest ever capital appeal, this is an exciting time to work alongside my fellow trustees and the charity’s leadership team to deliver even greater impact for patients and families at Great Ormond Street Hospital.”
Louise Parkes, Chief Executive of GOSH Charity said: “We are delighted to welcome two fantastic new trustees to our Board. They bring strong insight and expertise from different industries that will further strengthen the excellent range of skills and talent we are fortunate to benefit from on our board and within our charity. No childhood should be lost to serious illness, and our trustees play a vital role in our mission to ensure that seriously ill children have the best chance and best childhood possible. We are very grateful for their support.”
The duo join their 11 fellow Trustees and 10 Associate Trustees and Independent Committee members in providing governance and leadership to GOSH Charity in the year it launches a new, ambitious five-year strategy and focuses on the delivery of the second half of a bold, 10-year fundraising strategy to match.
