Disney Store VoluntEARS share the magic with patients

On Friday 23 November, 30 VoluntEARS from the Disney Store came to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to deliver 400 soft toys to patients on every ward.
The VoluntEARS spent time with the children identifying who their favourite character was before presenting them with their new soft toy.

GOSH patient George, from High Wycombe, is fighting a tumour in his abdomen and awaiting a bone marrow transplant.

He was admitted to GOSH days before his mum, Jo gave birth to his baby sister, Ella. Now all three live on the ward to support George.

"I don’t know how I have coped but the staff here have been brilliant letting us all stay," says Jo.  "Treats like today really make the difference."

This is the fourth year that Disney Store VoluntEARS have come to the hospital to distribute this donation and once again the afternoon created a tremendous buzz for the patients, families and hospital staff.

The hospital received this donation as part of the Share the Magic campaign which saw the store donate 6,000 soft toys to 47 charities this Christmas.

Disney Store’s ongoing support

Disney Store is also generously donating 25 per cent of the retail sale price of all Christmas wrap and tags to the charity.

These contributions help towards raising the £10 million donation that The Walt Disney Co Ltd has pledged towards the redevelopment of GOSH.
