Give to GOSH collection raises over £8,000

25 Nov 2015, 5:17 p.m.

Members of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity took to the streets of London last night to launch the Give to GOSH appeal, raising more than £8,000 in the process.

Bernard and Wendy Bear joined the effort to meet members of the public at tube stations across the city, pose for photographs and collect money for the campaign, which is supported by The Independent and the London Evening Standard.

Meeting Evgeny Lebedev

Highlights from the evening include some very kind children generously donating their coins and Bernard and Wendy met Evgeny Lebedev (the owner of the newspapers running the appeal).

Speaking to the London Evening Standard, Tim Johnson, chief executive of GOSH Children’s Charity, said: “New buildings are built because of donors, there are new treatments because of donors. It sounds like a cliché but every pound that is given really does make a difference. The campaign is already proving uplifting for staff, patients and families who recognise that it is all happening to help them.”
