Gordon and Tana Ramsay met patients and staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as they announced a new partnership between The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. On 16 September, the couple spent a morning on Eagle Ward and took part in cake decorating and colouring activities with children who were preparing for dialysis treatment. They met patients and their parents, aged from six to 12, as well as staff from the hospital’s Play team who encourage patients to use play as a way of preparing for surgery and procedures, aiming to help make the children’s experience of hospital as stress-free as possible.

Their visit marked the start of the Ramsay Foundation’s new partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. Each year GOSH receives more than 255,000 patient visits from across the UK. The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation will raise funds to help the hospital provide world-class care for young patients and their families. This includes pioneering new treatments, providing cutting edge equipment and supporting the redevelopment of the hospital to provide state-of-the-art facilities to match the hospital’s world-class care. Their support will also help to provide new accommodation for parents and families of children being treated so they can be close to their child when they need it most.

Gordon Ramsay said: "It was very special to meet the amazing staff, children and families at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Tana and I are delighted to announce our support for this extraordinary place through The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation.”

Tana Ramsay added: "We had a fantastic morning in Great Ormond Street Hospital cooking, playing and talking with some truly inspiring, young patients. I am so pleased that the Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation will be helping Great Ormond Street Hospital, making sure that children like Yusuf have the best possible experience when they are going through so much."

Tim Johnson, Chief Executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity said: “We are delighted that Gordon and Tana Ramsay have chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity to partner with for their foundation moving forward and we are incredibly excited about what we can achieve together. Their support will help to give some of the sickest children the best chance for life and make the hospital an even more extraordinary place.”

The announcement followed the recent success of the Boodles Boxing Ball, which was held in aid of the Gordon Ramsay Foundation, supporting a number of causes including those helping to treat children with cancer. The couple have now decided to focus their support on a single charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, helping to provide world class care to hundreds of sick children every day.

The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation has already begun raising funds for the hospital with more activities planned for the future, including:

  • From 18 September until October 31, customers at Gordon Ramsay restaurants were asked to add £1 to their bill which will go directly to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, as part of The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation's Great Donate.
  • 100 members of the public will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime alongside Gordon Ramsay in signing up for the IRONMAN® 70.3 Staffordshire in June 2016 - a Triathlon challenge with a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run.
