Baby ball box game

Create your own simple ball game for babies!

What to do

Find a cardboard box or lid (old shoe boxes are perfect for this) and a couple of balls that are a safe size for your baby or toddler to play with.

Carefully cut out a hole in the centre of the lid or box, making sure the hole is the appropriate size for your chosen ball to fit through.

Decorate your lid by sticking strips of brightly coloured paper to it or painting eye-catching patterns and shapes.

Your child can hold the sides, pushing the ball across the surface of the box and watching it disappear down the hole.

Support from the Play team

“This is a simple exploratory game that helps develop a child’s hand-eye coordination, communication and focus. It’s a cause and effort activity that give toddlers a chance to explore and wonder.”
