Make your own den

Build a cosy space for your child to call their own.

What to do

  • Using items around the house, create an inviting den that your child can make their own. With tables, sheets, masking tape or elastic bands – whatever you have available.
  • You could use fairy lights and blankets to make it a snug reading spot or invite all their favourite toys for a tea party. It can also be somewhere to go and have some quiet time. The possibilities are endless.

Support from the Play team

“Giving children a space of their own allows them to express themselves and their needs through play. Whether it’s a sociable activity involving siblings or a quiet place to take a break, den making is beneficial for any age. Dens can be turned into all kinds of spaces, and then taken down and rebuilt.”
